They originated in German-Dutch areas and because of persecution migrated to other areas over time. In that sense I guess you could say they are similar to Sephardic Jews, who had origins in Spain and migrated due to persecution.Janice M. I don't know if all of them are still active, but I guess that's one of the first things I need to determine.Janice M.
